So, as you may have heard, or read...we are officially booked for our first trip to meet Miss Sassy Pants!! I nearly had a coronary, and I still might, but we have plane tickets, and our passports arrived in DC for our visas, and we might even get them back back before we leave the country (heh...ooh dear, those chest pains are back...)...so, one step closer!
Those of you who know me well are either shaking your head thinking "oh God no...please tell me she isn't trying to organize this trip..." or maybe you've stopped reading altogether and are on your way to the nearest church to light a candle and pray...but I swear I've got this!!! LOL...I'm actually being organized, like *really* organized, I'm making lists, I'm checking them twice, and I'm asking an obnoxious amount of questions, my fellow adopting sistah's can vouch for that one! I'm feeling very confident that I know what I'm doing, and anything I forget, I'm going to blame on David and swear that was the ONE thing I asked him to do...he's gettin' old ya know, he won't remember if I really asked him to do it or not so I'm totally covered! :)
I'm also blissfully naive about the travel experience. I know I'll be jet lagged, but we're going to Hong Kong AND Beijing on this journey, how could I not be super stoked?! True, I won't be leaving the international terminal in either place, but still...it's going to be fun! I'm really excited to get to her country too, it's going to be great! I can't even think about how amazing it's going to be to meet Kenzi the first time...omgosh I am so in love with this little blonde sweetheart! I might burst when I see her. :)
It isn't often that we get snippy comments about our adoption, it seems that for the most part either people are happy for us, or they've just learned to zip it because they aren't going to change our minds, but once in a while a little old bitty will say something snarky. This lady kind of sneered at me when she overheard me talking to someone else about our adoption and said, "yeah? and what are you going to do if you get all the way over there, and the kid don't even like you? huh? then what are you going to do? you wasted all that money and they kid might not even like you!"
...I paused for a moment...just staring at her and finally said "if she doesn't like me, that means she'll fit right in with brothers, all the more proof she was meant to be my daughter!"
(she didn't like my answer)
I mean really, is that what we're supposed to gauge our decision to accept the referral for our kid or not? "She didn't act like she liked me..." um...her life has sucked, I don't expect her to like me, or anyone else, and rightly so for a while...plus I have 2 boys, one who is 9 and testing boundaries and one who is 2 testing boundaries...I'll be very comfortable in an environment where the kid present DOES NOT LIKE ME! :)
I'm only bummed about one thing: missing our spaghetti dinner. I hope it goes well, and I know the execution of it is in very capable hands, but still...I would have loved to be there! I hope people take lots of pics for me to look at from "across the pond".
That's it for now, as always...thank you so much for your love, support, and prayers. Clearly we would not be to this point without our amazing friends who have helped us so much!!! We have a long way to go til we cross the finish line and bring our little girl home, and we need about $7500 more to be fully funded, so please consider a donation to our FSP...if you feel so inclined! It's tax deductible and Kenzi would be very grateful!!! <3
Love always,
Cilla
